General Information

The group consists of local people who love green areas and share the passion to live a much sustainable future by planting trees, collaborating with private spheres and businesses to lower their carbon emissions. Our long-term goal is for Málaga to be neutral of carbon emissions.

More about this target

We are closely working with public sector and private entities to fund this goal. We have prepared several activities to engage with the citizens starting this autumn. The main activity is a Greenkana where we plan to have outdoor activities, workshops, live music and the main activity will be planting trees while having fun. We aim at 500 trees. We work closely with the natural based solution cluster in Málaga, the University and the Climate Change University Department to make this possible, sustainable and take care of it onward. This activity will take place in Rincon de la Victoria with the main support of the town hall and we will be making the second Greenkana at the beginning of 2023. 

Greenkanas will be the main activity in this period of time, easy to replicate and improve in different locations. They will be promoted with some other initiatives that will take place, such as shows, sport activities, street markets, etc to acquire visibility and fund the project. 

We count on the support and participation of local companies that want to reduce their emissions of CO2 locally and also with Coolx a start up which accelerate the generation of carbon credits. In the road map we will be having more activities outdoor counting on participation of citizenship, scientifics, artists etc to keep engaging and promoting green zones in the area. Our goal is to grow green areas and keep them in the long term, with the help of experts in this field.

The project is growing fast due to the amount of people who want to support these initiatives and want to have green spaces and shadows. Increasingly many individuals want to take part and also small and medium companies have already shown their interest in participating. This is the main reason why the group will be formal in the upcoming 6 months, and also, we are focused on the carbon credits and researching more ways to benefit local and international supporters.
