Carbon Emissions (or CO2e)

Join the Business Ambition for 1.5°C and publicly commit to have a net-zero by 2050 target and emissions reduction strategy in line with the SBTi Criteria and Recommendations

Facebook is committed to tackling climate change through our global operations, value chain and beyond. In 2020, we were able to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in our direct operations (Scopes 1 and 2) by reducing our emissions by 94 percent, compared to 2017 levels, and supporting high-quality carbon removal projects. We support the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and we are aligning our program with the latest science on what is necessary to transition to a zero carbon future. Moving forward, we will continue to prioritize reducing our emissions impact while investing in carbon removal projects and technologies to reach net zero emissions across our value chain. Reducing GHG emissions across our global operations and value chain is our top priority. We will continue to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in line with climate science by increasing the efficiency of our operations and maintaining 100 percent renewables.
