Our sustainability mission

We pledge to reform fashion by deploying a 360 Sustainability model to increase value & care for people whilst reducing resource consumption & wastage for the environment. Our target audience is: as many people as we are possibly able to reach, via our marketing, website, social media, national and international events, media interviews/articles and academic talks/presentations/panel discussions. Our marketing and events usually involve sustainability as a central theme and our founder Bernice does a lot to publicise our core mission to reduce the endemic wastage in the fashion industry. A lot of the activities surrounding our pledges and targets will be carried out by our own employees, but we will also be continuing to reach out to suppliers, customers, followers, the fashion industry and the wider community of people and organisations interested in sustainable issues.

  • Have a target to increase the use/consumption of recycled plastic

Where there is not a more sustainable alternative, we will seek to procure supplies and fabrics that use recycled plastic. This will be most relevant to our office/studio supplies and production fabrics and will be borne by increased research into the availability of recycled plastic materials. Already 70-80% of the fabrics & trims that we use are natural fibres, but our target is to replace 50% of (the existing small amount of) virgin plastics in our supply chain with recycled plastics or a sustainable alternative.

  • Have a target to reduce plastic consumption

We aim to eliminate the consumption of single-use plastics within the next 12 months (by the thorough reassessment of our supply chains) and reduce consumption of reusable plastics by researching advances in fabric technology and working with our suppliers to implement these advances in sustainable materials. As above, our target is to replace 50% of virgin plastics in our supply chain with recycled plastics or a sustainable alternative.

  • Increase the share of products using the EU Ecolabel in our product portfolio

We will encourage our suppliers to apply for the EU Ecolabel for their products (after identifying those that are already certified) and we will review the EU Ecolabel product catalogue for supplies that we may be able to substitute for any existing that are uncertified. Our target is to increase the number of our supply products that are EU Ecolabel certified.

  • Have a target to increase packaging from recycled or certified sustainable sources

We aim to continue to use the most sustainable packaging available and evaluate the availability of new sustainable products on a bi-annual basis. Our target is to find suitable packaging that is made from recycled material as well as being recyclable (currently our packaging is recyclable and carbon neutral, but not all made from recycled materials).

  • Have a target to reduce packaging consumption

We will work with (and positively influence) our suppliers to reduce packaging consumption, whilst continuing to keep our own packaging to a necessary minimum. Our target is to contact any suppliers who we deem to be using more packaging than necessary and encourage them to address this. If we are unable to make progress in this regard, we will be prepared to engage alternative suppliers.
