Satellite event: Cities on the Frontline of the Energy Crisis: Covenant of Mayors Europe 2023 Conference

This event will give the floor to representatives of local and regional governments to present the short-term measures they have put in place to tackle the crisis, as part of the Cities Energy Saving Sprint. They will exchange with high-level representatives from European Institutions, including Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans and EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, on how the EU and national authorities can further support local efforts to reduce energy consumption and dependency on Russian gas in the years to come.

In addition, the event will open a discussion, involving Climate Pact Ambassadors, Jonas Nitschke and Nadia Paleari, on how to embed these measures into mid- to long-term solutions for a deeper societal transformation.
