Climate Pact Going Local Talks: Dialogue on climate change and energy transition

The main objectives of the citizens assembly are to transfer European Green Deal and the Climate Agenda relevant information to the local communities, raise their awareness on the importance of citizens' active engagement in creation, and implementation of energy and climate policy, as well as to gather feedback on the European Green Deal and City's energy and climate policies.

The outcomes and key messages of the Citizens Assembly will be shared at the Conference ‘Green transition drives European cities - Zagreb 2024'.

Both events are envisioned as an opportunity to obtain guidance for Zagreb's future energy and climate polices, and to formulate message for the new European Parliament and the European Commission on the future of the European Green Deal and climate policy. Take a look at the event agendas here.

Events are organised by the City Assembly of the City of Zagreb in cooperation with the Energy Efficiency Agency Croatia, the European Committee of the Regions, and the European Climate Pact.

These events are meant to facilitate direct public engagement and active citizens’ participation in shaping and managing energy transition and climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as to further develop the sense of responsibility and understanding how behaviour, at the personal and community level, can impact, improve and secure the future development of European and Zagreb's energy and climate policy.

The Citizen Assembly will allow for direct interactions with the speakers of a panel and via two dialogue sessions: 

• Dialogue I: Citizens and elected members of the City Assembly on climate change and energy transition

• Dialogue II: Citizens meet representatives of political groups represented in the City Assembly  

The GREEN TRANSITION DRIVES EUROPEAN CITIES conference will feature 3 panel discussions:  

• Panel discussion 1: Urban Strategies for Climate Resilience and Renewable Energy Integration 

• Panel discussion 2: The future of European Green Deal in the light of the European Parliament Elections 

• Panel discussion 3: Urban Innovation in Renewable Energy
