Ecogenia is creating Greece’s first Climate Corps – a programme that gives young people the chance to take real action on climate issues in their communities.
The organisation supports young people aged 18–30 to work on local climate projects while building their skills and experience. Its goal is to get more youth involved in practical climate action. The long-term vision is a generation of active climate citizens helping to build a sustainable and resilient Greece.
In just four years, Ecogenia has run six service projects focused on climate resilience – including disaster prevention, ecotourism development and environmental education. These projects mobilised 47 young participants, who served over 16,500 hours and reached more than 10,000 people in local communities.
Ecogenia’s work has received recognition at European level, including being named Greece’s national winner of the 2022 European Charlemagne Youth Prize and a 2023 regional winner of the Ashoka Green Changemakers Challenge. Through its civic service approach, Ecogenia supports sustainability goals at local, national and European levels.
