Description

Do you need some inspiration on how cities and regions can actively work towards a climate-neutral future? The desk research about Local Climate Initiatives presents three inspiring ways to do so.

In the desk research, three prominent local climate initiatives or pacts are analysed in detail. They are working towards a climate-neutral future by engaging citizens and other actors. This document aims to inspire local authorities, including cities and regions, to create similar initiatives or to learn from them. The three examples, chosen for their innovative and comprehensive approach, are:

  • Leuven 2030
  • Cities Lab as part of the SONNET project
  • Uppsala Climate Protocol

For a better understanding, each initiative is described following the same structure: a short overview of their aim, target groups, methodology and outcomes. The information was compiled based on desk research and publicly available information.

A list of further initiatives can be found as well, in the latter part of the document.
