ECSA, the European Citizen Science Association, is a non-profit membership organisation dedicated to championing citizen science both within Europe and globally. Established in 2014 and headquartered in Berlin, ECSA envisions a world where individuals are empowered to effect positive change through science. ECSA’s mission revolves around fostering inclusivity and diversity in scientific knowledge production while nurturing a deeper understanding of the complex dynamics shaping our daily lives.

ECSA works on a wide range of projects and initiatives that focus on engaging citizens and stakeholders in understanding and adapting to climate change impacts. Through initiatives like AGORA, for example, ECSA facilitates citizen participation in studying local vulnerabilities to climate change and co-creating climate adaptation solutions to bolster local resilience, particularly amplifying the voices of vulnerable groups in climate adaptation dialogues. Other examples relate to monitoring air pollution (the COMPAIR project), detecting microplastic pollution in water (RAISE-CS), and the adoption of renewable energy solutions in neighbourhood projects and agricultural communities (STEP CHANGE).
