Foundation for Environmental Education

The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is a leading international non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable development through environmental education. Established in 1981 and headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, FEE works with a global network of over 110 member organisations in more than 85 countries. 

FEE empowers people to rise to the most defining challenges of our time: the escalating climate crisis, the devastating loss of biodiversity and the relentless tide of environmental pollution. Through the transformative power of education, it works collaboratively to awaken minds, inspire change and mobilise action. Its vision is a sustainable world in which Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) creates positive change for all. 

Its flagship programmes deliver impact across audiences and sectors. Eco-Schools, Learning about Forests and Young Reporters for the Environment empower young people to take climate action, while Green Key and Blue Flag are globally recognised for promoting sustainable business practices and protecting natural resources. 

At the international level, FEE is a proud partner of key UN initiatives, including the Greening Education Partnership (UNESCO) and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (UNEP/FAO), affirming the calibre and credibility of its work. Through these collaborations, FEE ensures that education and youth engagement are embedded within global climate and sustainability frameworks.
