Description

Passionate about equitable climate action in tourism? Here’s one for your reading list! This introductory guide to climate justice in tourism advocates for coordinated industry resources and allyship, making sure that communities most at risk from climate change are key stakeholders in climate action while ensuring their voices are amplified in tourism strategies.

The guide approaches tourism from the perspective of climate justice, focusing on how those working in the sector can understand and deliver practical, inclusive benefits for communities. It highlights the unequal impacts of climate change, particularly on vulnerable, often grassroots, communities who are least responsible for emissions but most affected by their impact. It proposes ten ideas for collective industry-supported actions, from risk assessments to financing mechanisms and pilot projects, all designed to empower people.

The publisher, the Travel Foundation, is an independent charity. Their goal is to help tourism companies and organisations build a better future for tourism destinations and deliver a fairer and more sustainable tourism sector.
