EcoSocial Lab is a non-profit foundation based in Maastricht (Netherlands) that develops and supports initiatives at the intersection of ecology, food systems and social inclusion. Its mission is to foster a fair and sustainable transition by combining environmental action with community empowerment, education and collaboration.

Its flagship initiative, Foodbank Maastricht, is a zero-waste project that collects and redistributes over 1,000 kg of surplus food each week, turning potential waste into community value. Through this work, EcoSocial Lab reduces CO₂ emissions, promotes circular food systems, and strengthens local food solidarity in the Limburg region.

EcoSocial Lab’s activities include food recovery and redistribution, weekly community dinners, and educational workshops on sustainable cooking, food preservation and the climate impact of waste. It also plans to organise a regional conference on food waste and sustainable food management systems in collaboration with local partners from education, research and policy.

EcoSocial Lab engages a diverse network of citizens, volunteers, local producers, retailers, educational institutions and policymakers, fostering regional cooperation and shared learning. Together, they work towards a resilient, inclusive and climate-conscious food system aligned with the goals of the European Climate Pact.
