On October 29–30, 2025, an in-person seminar titled “Tools and Skills for Legal and Communication Protection of Nature and Climate Defenders” will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, as part of the BeLIFE: Citizens and Justice for the Environment project.
This event is recognised as a Satellite Event of the European Climate Pact, contributing to the Pact’s mission to empower citizens and civil society in the transition toward a climate-resilient Europe. The seminar brings together environmental and climate defenders, including activists, journalists, and communicators, particularly those exposed to risk or preparing for active advocacy.
Participants will engage with leading legal and communication experts from Bulgaria and across Europe to strengthen their capacity to respond to environmental threats and rights violations. The event addresses the urgent need for legal literacy, strategic communication, and access to justice amid increasing environmental challenges. It supports the implementation of European environmental legislation and the rights enshrined in the Aarhus Convention, including access to information, public participation, and legal remedies.
Organised by the BlueLink Foundation, the seminar is part of a broader initiative co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme and the European Climate Foundation, and implemented by a consortium of pan-European networks: EEB, Youth and Environment Europe, Justice and Environment, and Guta Environmental Law Association. Participation is free of charge for accepted applicants, with travel and accommodation support available for participants from other regions of Bulgaria.
