Satellite event: Hotel Earth Week 2025

Hotel Earth Week is a Polish initiative launched in 2021 by Agata Delmaczyńska (Green Officer) and Karol Weber (Hotel Inspector). Its main goal is to promote eco-friendly practices among hoteliers and hospitality students while raising awareness about sustainable hospitality.The event is held annually around Earth Day (April 22nd). During this week, hotels are encouraged to showcase their environmental efforts—both special activities planned for Earth Week and everyday green practices that are part of their long-term sustainability strategies.

The initiative encourages hotels to share, in the public space, their environmental actions undertaken specifically for Earth Day, as well as good practices they apply in their daily operations. Participating hotels are invited to showcase these initiatives using the hashtag #hotelowytydzieńZiemi2025 (Hotel Earth Week 2025), creating a platform for mutual inspiration and the promotion of sustainable practices across the hospitality industry.Hotel Earth Week also includes free webinars hosted by sustainability experts. These sessions cover key topics such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), carbon footprint, greenwashing, waste management (BDO), environmental trends, certifications, and current legislative issues such as the Omnibus Directive, SUP (Single-Use Plastics), PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), and more.

At the same time, a contest is organized for students from hospitality schools to raise awareness of environmental issues and engage the younger generation in sustainable thinking within the industry. The competition is coordinated by the University of Social Sciences (Społeczna Akademia Nauk) and Hotelmania Association, an organization dedicated to connecting aspiring hoteliers with industry professionals.The event is supported by industry organizations, including the Polish Chamber of Commerce for the Hospitality Industry (IGHP) and Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC), and is promoted by leading hospitality and sustainability media outlets. All activities and events associated with Hotel Earth Week are free of charge.
