Satellite event: Climate and environmental crisis. The stories of migrants in arriving in Italy

The event presents the report “Environmental Migration and the Climate Crisis” of the project The Climate Routes” containing contributions from practitioners, researchers, jurists, lawyers, NGOs and study centers that participated in the study.

At the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan will be presented the report with the results of the project “Le Rotte del Clima” co-financed by the Cariplo Foundation and led by Veronica Dini of Centro Studi Systasis in partnership with WeWorld, ASGI Associazione Studi Giuridici Immigrazione, A Sud Ecologia e Cooperazione Odv and other partners including EuCliPaIT. Through the submission of questionnaires to migrants arriving in Italy, the incidence of climatic factors among the reasons for leaving the country of origin arises clearly in the stories collected.

Evidence from which derives the need, stressed by all the realities involved, to strengthen survey tools aimed at documenting the environmental matrix of migration and to work to ensure access to national territory and legal protection tools.

For EuCliPa.IT, Ambassador Gianni Tartari, Ambassador Silvia Di Gennaro and our member Anna Berti Suman contributed to the research.
