Gianni Tartari, Ambassador of the European Climate Pact and Secretary of EuCliPa.IT, will speak at the event “Climate and ecological crisis. Instructions for use” to be held on April 17 in Monza with the collaboration of EuCliPa.IT. In his speech, Tartari will present the Green Deal, the Climate Pact and the role of EuCliPa.IT as a bridge between Ambassadors and citizens on civic engagement actions.
Mercalli, Ambassador of the European Climate Pact, but famous climatologist and science communicator, will discuss the topic of climate risks that we run in the very near future, underlining that if the Paris Agreement is not respected as soon as possible, we expect a global temperature increase of up to 5 degrees by the end of the century, more African heat waves, desertification and drought, forest fires, extreme events, floods, more frequent storms and a sea level rise of over a meter, etc. Mercalli will conclude his speech by underlining that the possibility of reducing damage still exists, but it requires a rapid and massive effort, the transition from fossil fuels to renewables, greater efficiency in the use and recycling of raw materials and a rethinking of economic growth that cannot be considered infinite in a world of limited dimensions.
