Road2COP31 Banking on Climate Chaos

We’re pulling the second question from our saddlebags: Who is financing the transition to a climate-friendly future? The pre-event workshop of the 13th Fair Finance Week sets the stage for a participatory thematic kickoff. Over 60 minutes, we’ll trace the flow of money together and take a closer look at the mechanisms behind global financial streams - following a short input from Urgewald speaker Clara Bautz on “Banking the Climate Chaos?!”. 

Afterwards, participants will step into the role of financial actors themselves: using previously distributed coins, they can redirect capital flows away from fossil business models and symbolically invest in socio-ecological transformation. At moderated topic tables in a World Café format, experts will illustrate the impacts of different investment decisions. 

Together, we’ll discuss: 

• What does this investment mean for the climate? 
• Who benefits financially?
• Who bears the risks? 
• And who pays the global price?

This interactive approach makes the complex connections between financial markets, the climate crisis, and global justice tangible - and enriches the subsequent event “Besseres Klima?! Streit um Zukunft und Gesellschaft” (Better Climate?! Debate on the Future and Society).
