This initiative brings together individuals from diverse professional and social backgrounds - including olive oil producers, winegrowers, artists, institutional representatives, civil society organizations, and local authorities - with the aim of raising awareness of the EU Climate Pact, climate change, and the European Green Deal. It seeks to foster networking among key stakeholders and expand opportunities for collaborative climate action.
The involvement of the Herakleidon Museum, a non-profit cultural organization renowned for its high-profile exhibitions and strong climate-focused orientation, offers a valuable new model for future collaborations within the climate action framework—positioning museums as active contributors to climate engagement. Moreover, the Museum’s role as co-organizer can significantly enhance the visibility and media reach of the EU Climate Pact, strengthen synergies among citizens, climate actors, social stakeholders, and EU Climate Pact Ambassadors, and support the delivery of a high-impact climate event.
To maximize its impact, the event is aligned with the United Nations World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (17 June) - a critical global climate issue.
The initiative is structured around four main activities:
- a screening of a film addressing climate impacts;
- a guided tour of an exhibition featuring artworks created from repurposed materials (trash art);
- a focused discussion; and
- a storytelling session centered on climate experiences.
The event will take place in person at the Museum, creating a unique setting that connects art and history with awareness-raising on environmental protection and climate action.
