The 9th edition of Fondo Verde Academy, entitled “Leadership for Sustainability,” is a free international educational and outreach event taking place on 10 September 2026, with online participation and live streaming to reach a wider international audience.

The event will bring together sustainability experts and professionals from Europe and Latin America for two hours of presentations, expert discussion and exchange on one of today’s most urgent challenges: how to translate sustainability knowledge and scientific evidence into effective leadership and collective action.

The EU Climate Pact Ambassador, María Teresa Pérez Martín, will participate as the keynote speaker with a presentation focused on the kind of leadership required in a world increasingly shaped by environmental, social and technological change. Rather than focusing on traditional leadership models, her contribution will explore how systems thinking, ethical intelligence, collaboration and regeneration can become essential pillars of sustainability leadership in the 21st century. Drawing on recent scientific evidence on the state of the planet and practical examples, the presentation will highlight that one of our greatest challenges is no longer simply generating knowledge about sustainability, but developing the capacity to transform that knowledge into meaningful action within organisations, communities and territories.

The event will also include an international expert panel with representatives from organisations such as IUCN South America, Natural Capital LAC and Fondo Verde, providing different regional and professional perspectives and encouraging dialogue between Europe and Latin America.

The main objective is to inspire participants to understand sustainability leadership not only as an institutional responsibility, but also as an opportunity for each individual to become an agent of transformation, capable of contributing to more resilient, regenerative and sustainable organisations and territories.
