International Food Rescue Day!

Are you a food rescuer? Join Tartu Foodsharing on 29 September for an evening of rescued food, real stories, games, music and community. Come discover what food rescue means and whether you are already part of it.

  • Training and workshops

International Food Rescue Day! Tartu Foodsharing invites you to celebrate the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste Reduction on the 29th of September at Tartu Town Hall Square, starting at 19:00. Every day, a large amount of edible food is wasted in Estonia. At the same time, more and more people believe that good food belongs on the table, not in the bin.

Join us for an evening where food, people, stories and community come together. During the evening you can: taste dishes made from rescued food; share your thoughts and ideas; enjoy a fire performance; hear real stories from food rescuers; meet people who are working to prevent edible food from being wasted; take part in a large shared food rescue moment.

Our dream is to see food rescuer communities in every part of Estonia – people who notice, care and take action.

And on this evening, we will ask: Are you a food rescuer? Maybe you already value food, share surplus food, notice waste or look for ways to make a difference. You don't become a food rescuer through one big act. It starts with everyday choices and taking action together. Come and think, taste and take part with us!
