Guided Visit to Nature restoration project Conseil Nature

A few years ago, Ambassador Nina Klein had the opportunity to purchase plots of land in a wooded area together with others. This area covers around 3 hectares in the Ruisseau de Vieux Fourneau valley. The European LIFE programme is supporting in the restoration of these wetlands in the Ardennes valleys.

Since then, beavers, a riparian forest, dragonflies, wetland plants and a diverse range of soil microfauna, amongst other things, have established themselves on this land after natural recovery. Recognition of this area officially as a Nature Reserve is currently underway.

We invite you to celebrate the creation of this new private nature reserve. We’re organising a short guided walk with representatives from the LIFE-Vallées Ardennaises project (Domaine de Bérinzenne, a non-profit organisation; Clémence Teugels).

We’ll also discuss the links between nature and the local area in relation to droughts, floods, pollution, infrastructure. The event will take place in a small, friendly group with light refreshments.

Practicalities ​Parking: along the road, above the bridge, on the left.

The ground is very damp and sometimes marshy: please wear appropriate food wear.

The walk is unfortunately not accessible to people with reduced mobility.​Please confirm your attendance by the 20th of September.
