Community Garden at Koprade House

Join us for the launch of the Community Garden at Koprade House - a new shared space where people can connect, learn, grow food, and take practical action.

  • Info days

A community garden is about much more than vegetables. It brings together people of different generations, encourages cooperation, strengthens a sense of belonging, and helps create a more sustainable and climate-friendly community. During the event, we will prepare and install the first raised garden beds, plant the first tomato seedlings, and introduce the vision for the garden.

Participants will have the opportunity to choose a garden bed, join the garden community, and become part of this long-term initiative. As part of the event, we will also host a practical workshop, "Introduction to Home Composting", led by composting expert Zane from Komposts LV. The workshop will explore different composting methods suitable for both urban and rural environments, explain how to create healthy compost without unpleasant odours, introduce vermicomposting, and demonstrate how compost can be used to enrich garden soil and reduce household waste. Participants are welcome to bring photos of their own compost systems and ask questions during the session.

The event offers:

  • Community garden launch and introduction
  • First tomato planting activity
  • Seedling exchange and gardening conversations
  • Opportunity to join the garden community
  • Practical composting knowledge .
  • Networking and community building

This initiative contributes to the goals of the European Climate Pact by promoting sustainable food growing, waste reduction through composting, environmental awareness, and active community participation in climate action. Organised by RADI DOT Association. Special thanks to Carnikavas Komunālserviss for providing topsoil for the garden. The composting workshop is implemented within the Ādaži Municipality Community Initiatives Programme and supported by co-financing from Ādaži Municipality. Together we can create a greener Carnikava. Community begins when people grow and work together.
