We would like to warmly invite you to the first meeting in our new format, “Climate Ferment.”
We will gather online on Sunday, 8 March, at 12:00 noon.
“Climate Ferment” is a space where young activists and academics come together to discuss how to communicate issues related to the climate crisis effectively. We will begin with a pressing topic: climate disinformation and the role of social media in spreading it. The narrative around this phenomenon is still taking shape, so it is worth putting it under the spotlight.
Our goal is to develop the most effective — and above all coherent — communication line that will help us persuade the public and decision-makers to take the necessary action.
The meeting will start with an expert introduction delivered by a remarkable researcher who studies climate disinformation: Justyna Ignaszak*. After her approximately 25-minute presentation, there will be time for a Q&A session, followed by a broader discussion.
Drawing on the classic formula of intellectual “ferment,” we will then break into small table groups to reflect on narratives that can make our messaging resilient to the most common counterarguments. We will work in a World Café format, with each group focusing on messages tailored to specific target audiences.
The entire session will last around 100 minutes.
